"Wayside Chapel is the new song from The Heggarties and tells a true and moving story, ' Teen pregnancy, the late sixties, Kings cross and the beatniks. Wayside Chapel is the true story of all of those things told from the perspective of my mother." Wren Heggart told Australian Country Radio.
"I wrote this song a while ago and my husband Paul arranged it- but it never felt quiet right and eventually it got left behind. So when Paul Cooper joined the band and brought his banjo along, I was really excited to hear Wayside played on it. The song just fell into place and I cried pretty hard, because apart from it sounding so haunting and beautiful it was also the instrument my father played. It choked me up hearing the banjo played on a song that is the story of my late parents. Wayside Chapel aims to capture a small moment in the life of a young mother to be and where she found herself in the late sixties in Kings Cross Sydney.' - Wren Heggart
