Always something new and different on Australian Country Radio.
Playing now, "Gypsy Woman" by Julie Kember the title track from her just released five track set.
From Western Australia Julie tells Australian Country Radio, "“Since the release of my debut album, Sugar and Stone, there has been a lot of soul searching, re-invention, redemption and a million miles under my belt, always with music at the helm.
I had written so many songs, experienced so many things but hadn’t put a record out for a long time. Now I had nothing to show for all of my hard work, no plan or funds to make things happen. I felt a sense of failure and for the first time in my life, I reached a point where I thought my music career could be all over.”
Kember had relocated to the UK, formed a band and released a single. But the singer songwriter had been away from her home of Western Australia for 14 years and was feeling a pull towards familiar soil.
“I had been on the road playing gigs, spreading myself thin, I was here, there and nowhere,” Kember says. “Sacrificing a marriage and relationships along the way to keep my dream alive. Finally, back amongst family and friends, I embarked on another journey – this time to find out who I was.”
“Last year I took a trip to Nashville, this further enhanced my opinion that country, soul, roots, Americana was where I belonged and my confidence in my old tunes grew,”
