Playing now is the new song from Travis Collins album 'Hard Light"
The song "Hometown Calling" is very special to Travis as he explains to Australian Country Radio, "“I was in central west NSW, and saw a newspaper advert for a council subsidised $1 per week rent. The only request in return was that people bring a trade to the town and kids to the school. The ad itself was quite forgettable, but the issue it uncovered stayed with me, I quickly learned this was huge problem, and not exclusive to where my family roots lay in the central west of NSW either”
He continued, "All over Australia, many small towns and regional communities, already in hardship, are getting smaller and smaller as new generations grow up and move away to the coast and major cities. Family businesses that have been open for generations are closing, shops boarded, streets empty. I wondered, if this town had a voice, what would it say? What would it ask? I could only imagine that it would urge all of its children to come home.. with ‘Hometown Calling’, I’m just trying to give these silent, heartbroken towns a voice and make us all think about where we come from”
