Playing now and every day the new song from John Williamson called "Looking For a Story". Its a new song and part of a six track release to coincide with ANZAC Day.
John Williamson tells Australian Country Radio," In April 2015 I was standing at The Nek on the Gallipoli Peninsula, where the Turks and Aussies were in trenches not much more than a cricket pitch apart. The horror of it all was hard to write about. I was also told the story of an underage soldier who didn’t even make it to the shore at Anzac Cove. This is a war that should not be glorified, but seen as a huge waste of brave young men from both sides who would rather have thrown down their rifles and shared a billy. It is the lonely campfire setting I have tried to emulate in the recording. I can imagine in the scene a digger burying his mate. We must never forget their sacrifice or the futility of war. Nor should we forget the bond it created between Turkey and Australia.’ Now playing on Australian Country Radio on Tunein, Streema, on Facebook.
